Fat Activism, Body Acceptance

  • Dietland by Sarai Walker - I actually didn't realize this was fiction until I started reading it. I really enjoyed it for it's feminist-bent, and its imagining the world free of toxic masculinity and sexual harassment, although there's a questionable scene around critiquing pornography.
  • I do it with the lights on by Whitney Way Thore - essays from a woman who went from being very thin to being very fat due to a medical problem. She also has a tv show that shows the same cutting wit. She talks a lot about being physically active, dating, and self-esteem while being fat.
  • Shrill by Lindy West - mostly for the middle chunk of the book. Some of the other essays I really didn't care for and I ended up skipping the whole part about internet trolls
  • Hot & Heavy: Fierce Fat Girls on Life, Love & Fashion - a collection of essays from a lot of different women. Slow in spots, but good.
